Who We’re Becoming

Believing that the church of Jesus Christ is called to be a representative of God’s kingdom in the world, New Hope Church strives to authentically love God, love one another, encourage one another in the faith, serve together in ministry, and reach out to its neighbors, to East Dayton and its surrounding communities, and to the world with the good news and compassion of Jesus Christ.  We realize that we must become:

  • a place where God’s glory is revealed
  • a community where people come to know Jesus Christ and lives are radically transformed and made whole by the power of the Holy Spirit
  • a sanctuary, a place of safety, security, and refuge where lost people come to find salvation, hope and wholeness
  • a biblically-functioning, growing, self-replicating community of believers who pursue God’s redemptive purposes in the world

This happens when we, led by the Holy Spirit, are winning the lost through evangelism, transforming our community through outreach, touching His presence through worship, growing in His grace through discipleship, and equipping the saints through leadership development.

Recognizing that neighborhood residents will have a difficult time contributing to the financial viability of the church (at least in the first few years of development in this deeply impoverished area), we have a leading to respond to a felt need in this area by opening a non-profit restaurant that would employ neighborhood residents and train them in basic job skills to prepare them for better paying employment and provide an outlet to build relationships with community residents.  We have begun discussions with potential board members for the purpose of forming a new 501(c)3 non-profit corporation or to partner with an existing non-profit in order to establish this ministry.  We are currently in conversation with an existing faith-based non-profit organization whose executive director was in the food service industry for many years before serving his current ministry.  All net revenue would go toward sustaining the ministry of the new church plant.
